Retry a failed

Hi guys, is there a way to avoid that retrying a failed job agent recreate all the backups again?

It would be great to set retry policy on failure on the SQL agent job having at the same time an option (parameter?) that states "don't backup again databases that succeeded before failure occur".

In other words I want my job retry after failure (transient error) without worrying about filling storage with more backups than necessary.
