Time and localized language syntax

Lately I enjoyed working with Obsidian so i thought it could be an ideal environment to manage my tasks as well

Tasks looks suitable for this job as it uses natural language to organize tasks and offers many options
Two things are missing however :

1. Time in tasks
2. Localizated syntax

For point one, i highly recommended adding time to our tasks, a todo list is very vague without a proper time definition. Projects need to be done in time, whereas Areas don't need a time for completion, because we deal with recurring tasks

For the second point, English isn't my first language, and for many users worldwide will be the same, so Tasks can't feel natural for everybody
Therefore i suggest a localization of the syntax itself. I myself speak German and Italian, some Cinese, so i could translate in these languages if you need them.

I don't exactly understand what you mean by "time in tasks". I can think of several possible meanings, so please could you give a concrete example to show what you mean here?

Oops i thought time was the best definition for hours and minutes, because date describes more closely day, weekday, month and year.

Indeed, but what are you wanting to use it for when you say "time in task?"
For example, to add time-of-day to the due, done, scheduled etc?
To record how much time you spent on a task?
To estimate how long a task might take?
Something else?

I'd be happy to schedule my tasks, time blocking or tracking are more advanced and not really a priority right now because due dates come first 🙂

Atm i use Apples reminders, but doing everything in Obsidian would be really awesome!
I'm so tired to switch between apps and code scripts to connect my workflow with them

I'm not familiar with all of the requests yet here, but there's already been at least one request here HH-MM on due, schedule dates etc #668.

@claremacrae curious what the answer is to their second point. About having the natural language work in other languages.
I myself can speak/use English just fine, but would like to deploy Obsidian including the task plugin in my small team. And would preferably have them be able to use Dutch natural language prompts in the plugin. (currently we looked at Todoist, which does support Dutch in their nat lang system. But Todoist has a lot of weird features that are lacking, so we might not use that tool specifically)

That remains true.

In the foreseeable future, it is not going to be implemented.

For it to be implemented, there would need to be a bunch of refactoring the current code to separate out strings. And there would need to be ongoing commitment from translators to keep the translations up to date, so that it does not become stale. A concern is that generally, volunteers on open source projects tend to pop in for a few days or weeks, as and when they have time.

If there were a few volunteer developers who were willing to contribute the time involved to do it, and would commit to sticking around, I would certainly be happy to pair with them to get them started.

It's not something I personally would ever implement though, on a free project.
