Filter tasks by the date when they were created

Each day I create several to-do items under different projects and then check them in my diary, I think it would be helpful to have filters that show what's new today

In order for that to work, Tasks would need to support a "Created" field -- and users would have to supply that field with a value for every task they create.

If you are willing to assign Creation Dates to your tasks, then you can accomplish what you seek now, as follows:

1. Add a tag like #2022-01-12 (or a non-tag alternative like @2022-01-12), to each task you create today. (Those must come before any of Tasks' emoji triggers and dates.)
2. Include within your diary page's Tasks query a filter line like description includes #2022-01-12 or description includes @2022-01-12.

Thank you for the idea @tinyrolls. Creation dates are currently not part of a task's meta-data. I will keep it here as an idea to add this feature.

I'd like to see a list of tasks created today or over the weekend. The idea would be to find my quick in-and-out tasks to keep hammering those out before I get to other things.

I think adding a creation and maybe also modification date automatically would be pretty easy to implement. Of course adding them should be made optional, and there should be a options to hide them in the view. Once these are added, it would be easy to also add filters for them.

For tasks entered or edited directly it would be more complicated, maybe we could use an editor extension or the suggest functionality. I thought maybe it would suffice to support these dates only for data changed via the dialog.

I have no idea about being easy to implement. But I think the value of having a creation date would be that it is automatically assigned when the line becomes a task - or maybe as a prefill when the dialog box pops up? If the data had to be filled in manually, I think the use cases wouldn't be as accessible.

Also - just want to say how much I appreciate this tool and those that make it possible!

Just to add the primary use case I have for this feature is for weekly or monthly reviews. List all tasks created in that timeframe.

I think that adding in the popup modal when creating tasks an additional option for "created" date just the same as "due" would be perfectly acceptable. The modal could be pre populated to show Today, Yesterday, Last Friday, Week ago.

Sometimes task creation times do not matter and therefore it should be optional, and also sometimes task creation time is not actually on the date where it is created in obsidian so having it easily modifiable is needed.
