I heartily agree. I find the emoji based sytax offputting and distracting from my content. The emoji leap off the screen and it's hard to focus on the tasks. TaskPaper is a cleaner format, and it is widely used so many other apps understand it.

Yes! I've avoided using Tasks precisely because the emoji are so distracting. I've always liked the Taskpaper format.

Just to set expectations: there are no plans in the foreseeable future to support this syntax.

The sheer volume of other requests is too high.
