What is the difference between the start date and scheduled date?

Hi everyone
After reading the documentation, it seems they don't have any behaviour difference. What I experience is that there will be start date auto created but not the schedule date.
Did I miss something that differentiate them?
What is the intended use case of these two?

For the intended use case of those two dates, I can't really say it any differently or better than the relevant documentation, which is here:

• Scheduled date
• Start date

Having said that, you can assign any meaning you want to them.

As you have noted, separately, you can optionally get Tasks to use a date in the file name as a default scheduled date:

• Use Filename as Default Date

For purely historical reasons, that facility only applies to the Scheduled date, because:

1. the volunteer who wrote that facility only cared about Scheduled date, and
2. nobody else with programming skills and time has cared enough to make the facility apply to Start or Due date instead
