Feature request: Cancelled tasks

Tasks are sometimes opened but not completed. Instead they get "cancelled". It is valuable to distinguish that a task was deliberately not done.

Proposal: Cancelled tasks are represented as [-] in markdown. (Note this already displays as "completed" in the UI, without appending a due date.

Enhancement:

• Add a "Cancel task" checkbox or button to the Create/Edit UI
• Bonus points: Cancelled tasks display a different checkbox to completed tasks, but still have the cancelled date appended.

Regarding styling of checkboxes, you can already have a look at https://github.com/deathau/obsidian-snippets#checkboxes (end of file). (from #2)

I like the styling of the box but would be good to have those status types in the UI so I do not have to hunt for the task from a query.

Anyone working or looking at that option?

What do you mean by “having them in the UI”? With the checkbox style, you do see that a task is cancelled in edit and preview mode.

In the Task edit box, it just has the name, due and reoccurrence. A drop down for other task states other than done/not done

Editable statuses in the modal (edit box) are definitely on my list, but not trivial to do, unfortunately. It’s not that hard, but requires some thinking regarding handling of done dates.
