Trouble understanding Daily Planner + Tasks

Hi all, I'm excited to explore tasks and thankful it's being maintained! Thanks for what you do.

Situation

• Disabled the default Daily Notes
• Enabled Periodic Notes dailies to go to Daily/ in YYYY-MM-DD format
• I created a note for Friday (2024-01-12) and added one line: - [ ] Task I hope is overdue
• I have a query in another file searching for:

```tasks
not done
due before today

I used explain to double check the query and it seems like it should show the task mentioned above. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Note: Future tasks are showing up in a due after today query -- it's only backward looking as an issue. Thank you for any help!

It's a bit hard for me to say, as I'm not seeing the full text for me to copy, of all the tasks you refer to.

However, the following task is definitely not overdue:

- [ ] Task I hope is overdue

So long as you don't yet have hundreds and hundreds of tasks, you can test out what dates are calculated with this:

```tasks
group by due
```

You will see that the above task does not have a group heading, which means it does not have a due date.

@claremacrae oh I see now -- I confused due, scheduled, and happens. As soon as I swapped for the latter two it worked.

I'm so excited to redesign my Obsidian setup with this plugin in place. Thank you again!
