I am so confused. Why can't I show task path? #2441
-
I feel somewhat insane because it seems like there is nobody requesting the ability to show task paths and it is so confusing to me: Suppose I have folders for classes, and then folders within those for assignment types (E.g.' Chemsitry/Worksheets' vs. 'Calculus/Problem Sets'). If I put a task in a page inside one of those sub folders, then I obviously on my homepage I want to be able to see the class that the task is in. E.g. I put a task within the page (Calculus/Problem Sets/Week 4) called 'submit for feedback' then on my homepage in a list of all my tasks it would be confusing if all I saw was '[ ] submit for feedback (Week 4)' because it's not enough context. Or is it not obvious?? Am I using tasks differently from everybody else?? Somebody please explain why I can't show the full path instead of just the page it is on. |

In general it is not such a great idea to have many identically named notes in Obsidian. That said it is often useful to see the path Try something like (just as an example showing tasks due before 28 days from now)
If you want to be less granular you can group by just the root folder

@nanderson868 I'm a bit confused about what you're confused about! 😄 But there are lots of options for grouping tasks with the So you could add one of these, to have your tasks divided up with headings:

Good.
Why does there have to be a reason for one particular thing not having been implemented?
That's not how any software works, yet alone free software.
One thing you could try is seeing what happens if you have files with duplicate names. It's possible that the full path would be used in that situation.
Another thing you could try is giving your files meaningful names so that you don't need to see the folder.
