Centrally changeable filter subsets to combine with inline filters?

Hi,

I reuse a lot of filter lines in different contexts.
In a task block I would like to include a chosen global filter (line or lines) to combine with the inline filter.
This would mean less copy / pasting filters between blocks and also allow me to change a filter centrally and have it affect every task block where it is used.

An example filter:

folder includes CategoryName
tag does not include #t-action 
status.type is not DONE
# Similar to this line is reused in multiple task blocks and will evolve:
((no start date) AND (no due date) AND (priority is above none)) OR ((has start date) AND (starts on or before today)) OR ((tag includes #t-yearly) AND (due on or before this month)) OR ((tag includes #t-monthly) AND (due on or before this week)) OR ((tag includes #t-weekly) AND (due on or before tomorrow)) OR ((tag includes #t-daily) AND (due on or before today))

I would like to do something like this:

folder includes CategoryName
tag does not include #t-action 
status.type is not DONE

include filter globalFilterExample1

Where I can change the content globally for:
globalFilterExample1='((no start date) AND (no due date) AND (priority is above none)) OR ((has start date) AND (starts on or before today)) OR ((tag includes #t-yearly) AND (due on or before this month)) OR ((tag includes #t-monthly) AND (due on or before this week)) OR ((tag includes #t-weekly) AND (due on or before tomorrow)) OR ((tag includes #t-daily) AND (due on or before today))'

Is this or something similar possible with Task filters?

Hi, no there is not currently a way to have a central definition on Tasks of names custom filters.

I just checked and there hasn’t been a feature request yet.

I would welcome a feature request (via Issues then New then Feature Request) to capture the idea.

A mechanism for achieving this has now been released - in Tasks 7.20.0 - via the new preset instruction, and corresponding placeholder.
