Replacing the ✅ symbol in Markdown source

As advised at the appropriate ticket, I'm opening a separate discussion.

I use Typewriter theme and I would like to replace the ✅ symbol with something less of the accent - for example, with ✔️ symbol.

Please, find attached my tasks settings screenshots.

If anything is missing - please, let me know!

1. I am not familiar with the Typewrite theme. Please could you include a screenshot showing what you want the display to look like?

2. I am unclear about which of the many parts of Tasks you are talking about...
   Are you talking about changing the Emoji?
   Or are you talking about when looking at Tasks search results?
   Or when viewing your tasks in Reading mode?

Do I hear it right, that this green beastie is an unreplaceable one?

No it’s not possible for Tasks to recognise different emojis in the Markdown

If changing the appearance in Reading and Live Preview is better than nothing, you can always try out the snippets posts labelled with scope: css styling in Discussions/Show & Tell.

I would understand if you won't respond, but would much appreciate if you can give me a quick and dirty suggest - what to put as an example and where - I'm quite far from css styling unfortunately...

No I’m sorry I just don’t have time to give detailed individual support like that.

Honestly, if you won’t use the Dataview format support that Tasks provides - which was written for people who don’t like emojis - and you really won’t use emojis either, your best bet is probably to pick a different way to manage your tasks.

Now that I know this is about changing the symbol used in the Markdown, as opposed to rendering, I'm:

• marking this as Answered
• labelling it as Not planned
• Closing it

The workaround for those who don't like emoji is the use Dataview format support in Tasks.
There is important documention of this in About Task Formats.

Thanks so much! It's turned out I had a very suitable work-around in front of my nose all of the time!
