Tasks query: do not understand query

Whenever I use tags in the query. I'm getting the error

"Tasks query:do not understand query"

Query used

not done
(due after yesterday) AND (due before in two weeks)
tag includes #test)

What happens if you remove the ) after the tag line?

I think that ) is not a valid character in tags anyway, so it shouldn’t affect the search result.

Still the same error. I took the sample from examples here

I can’t see any examples in that file with mismatched () - but I don’t think that is the problem.

Sorry there is a typo in my original question. There is no mismatched tag at the end. Please read it as

(tag includes #test)

OK, that is not valid syntax. If you don’t have a Boolean (AND, OR etc) it is not valid to have () around the query.

If you remove the () on your tag line, the query will work.

I believe we already have a bug report for that.

what version of Tasks are you using?

By going to Settings and Community Plugins and scrolling down to Tasks, or searching.

Its 1.4.1

I’m assuming that’s 1.14.1, that is fine.

I did an update to the latest (1.13.1) and now the query works fine. I was indeed on 1.4.1!

The answer was to update to a version of Tasks that supports Boolean queries.

But also note that as of the date of writing, it’s not supported to put () around a single filter on a line.
