Description
I suggest the specification document's body text typeface be changed.
The current typeface used is Liberation Sans. The main "merit" of this typeface is that it is metrically identical to Arial, which used to be the default sans-serif font in MS Office and other MS Windows apps. Arial itself is a bastardization of Helvetica; and both arte considered to be poor choices for body text font.
See, for example: Stop Using Arial & Helvetica
So, what can you use instead? I'm no font specialist, and don't remember many freely-licensed fonts off the top of my head, but you could try Open Sans, or Linux Biolinum if you want to stick with sans-serif. But you could also consider going serif, IMHO: This would improve readability when printied, and not hurt it, when reading the spec online - since the font size is not that small and people are likely to even zoom in a bit when reading - scenarios in which serifs are typically considered to increase legibility. Linux Libertine is an option, for example.
