I'm sorry you had to go through that exercise, but I really appreciate you sharing what you learned with the community. In the future I hope to add functionality that has WinNUT query the NUT server for available UPSs and present them to the user to remove that guesswork. |

Just a heads up if someone has issues getting WinNUT-Client to communicate with your Eaton UPS you have set up on your Asustor NAS.
The IP adress was quite self explanatory, the port is the default port, the login credentials is the same you use to access the NAS.
I got stuck when I wasn't able to figure out, or find, the proper value for the field "UPS Name" in the WinNUT-Client settings.
I had tried "Eaton", "eaton", "EATON", all with different combinations of my specific model "3S 550". All taken from the information i gathered from the settings on my NAS, as my UPS was connected to it via USB.
No success, and no clues as to what the issue was. "Uknows UPS" was all the info I got, time and time again.
I finally got it working by setting the "UPS Name" in the WinNUT-Client settings to "asustor". Suddenly the values, model, firmware, voltage, battery information, everything popped up.
How was I supposed to know "asustor" was the name I was supposed to use?
Anyhow, I hope someone will find this useful.
