How to pass custom image as avatar for each in-app notification?

I had been passing a new custom image per notification as the avatar. This worked 2 weeks ago. Each notification in-app had it's own image based on the notification.

Now that's not working anymore. It's just updating the avatar to the same one for all notifications.
