Work in Live Preview

I originally was using Pixel Banner, since there were a number of posts about this plugin no longer working, but PB hasss apparently have sold out to AI and I'm horrified. I based some things in my vault around the ability to have banners, so I really want to maintain that functionality, but don't want to continue using something involved with gen ai, so I installed this. It seems to work well, which is great and I absolutely love the modal for selecting an image for the banner! Unfortunately it seems to only be visible in reading view. Is there any way this can be made to work in live preview? It's pretty much the only mode I use.

Would really love to see this plugin continue to be maintained with the options for showing in live preview and a customizable gap between banner and content.

I had a writeup and a bunch of workaround custom css to hack a solution for this. After that was still not working great, I started finally looking at the source code and realized that before development stopped 2 years ago, the original author had the main branch of this repo working fine with Live Preview. So for the more adventurous of you out there, you can try this:

1. Git clone the repo to a local dir.
2. Run npm install from the repo directory.
3. Optionally update the manifest.json file with the proper version 2.0.5-beta (as found in package.json).
4. Run npm build to compile the source into the dist directory.
5. Replace the contents of your Obsidian vault's directory .obsidian/plugins/obsidian-banners with the contents from the repo/dist directory.
6. Restart Obsidian.
7. ...
8. Profit.

NOTE: I am not the author, and this is a beta version of the plugin. Afaik the author never sanctioned this version for use in Obsidian yet, Use at your own peril.

@pkkid I tried it and had to make a few adjustments, so here is an updated workaround.

1. Git clone the repo to a local dir.
   git clone https://github.com/noatpad/obsidian-banners.git && cd obsidian-banners
2. Checkout the latest branch
   git checkout 2.0.5-beta
3. Update package.json to work with current NodeJS versions
4. Open package.json
5. Look for tsx under `devDependencies
6. Change the string from "^3.12.7" to `"^4.19.4"
7. Save the file and close it
8. Optionally update the manifest.json file with the proper version `2.0.5-beta (as found in package.json).
9. Run npm build to compile the source into the dist directory.
   npm run build
10. Replace the contents of your Obsidian vault's directory .obsidian/plugins/obsidian-banners with the contents from the dist directory.
11. Restart Obsidian

@FlyingRatBull @pkkid why don't you fork it and publish it if @noatpad has given up :) would be awesome to be able to use this. After all this is why open source is so cool
