FieldMappingTool not mapping

Hi there, I followed the instructions here for migrating basic work items before test cases. The goal is to create work items and map the reflectedWorkItemId to IntegrationBuild, but this doesn't appear to be working, the Integration build field isn't getting populated on the target project.

I check the logs for errors and status messages from the field mapping tool, but don't see anything.

Any hints would be appreciated, thanks.

I'm not sure then. I've run a migration with this version and did not notice an issue.

Can you debug in VS and see why it's skipping your field maps.

It looks like the field mapping isn't being skipped. The issue is that in the code it appears the field to field map is taking the value from the source project and putting that in the target. This doesn't work for the ReflectedWorkItemId to IntegrationBuild field mapping needed to wire up work items to test cases since the source will always have a blank ReflectedWorkItemId.

See the documentation here where it says "Field map copies the ReflectedWorkItemId to Microsoft.VSTS.Build.IntegrationBuild"

Here's debug output: [10:39:05 DBG] [16.1.0] FieldToFieldMap: [UPDATE] field mapped 183422:Custom.ReflectedWorkItemId to 386313:Microsoft.VSTS.Build.IntegrationBuild.

Based on my understanding the code should be mapping 386313 to 386313 on the target project.

I just confirmed this behaviour. I don't know how the field mapping is supposed to work, but it maps from source project to target project.

This causes a problem for test case linking because that requires the integrationBuild field to be populated on the work items.

Either the code is incorrect or the documented instructions are wrong.
