Ad-Hoc download from Readme does not work anymore (cont) #149

Unfortunately the fix for #147 did not work. As I can't reopen I am creating a new issue for visbility:

Problem: download_nixpkgs_cache_index from README.md does not work.

Unfortunately, the fix does not work. The issue is not the comment syntax. zsh ignores this as silent failure.

The problem is that there are no file index-x86_64-linux published with the releases anymore, see
https://github.com/nix-community/nix-index-database/releases/tag/2025-05-11-033503

❯ download_nixpkgs_cache_index () {
  filename="index-$(uname -m | sed 's/^arm64$/aarch64/')-$(uname | tr A-Z a-z)"
  mkdir -p ~/.cache/nix-index && cd ~/.cache/nix-index
  wget -q -N https://github.com/nix-community/nix-index-database/releases/latest/download/$filename
  ln -f $filename files
}

❯ download_nixpkgs_cache_index
ln: failed to access 'index-x86_64-linux': No such file or directory
