Feature Request: Preserve Window-to-Space Assignments Across Sessions

Problem Statement

As a freelancer managing multiple projects simultaneously, I organize my workflow by dedicating specific spaces to each project. For example, I'll have my web browser running on several different spaces, with each browser window containing tabs relevant to a particular project.

Current Issue: When I sleep my computer and wake it back up, all windows collapse onto the same space. This forces me to manually redistribute windows across spaces for each project, which is tedious and disrupts my workflow.

I'm aware that aerospace allows assigning specific apps to spaces, but this doesn't fit my workflow since I need the same application (e.g., multiple browser windows) distributed across different spaces based on the project context.

Proposed Solution

I'd like aerospace to remember which windows were on which spaces and restore this layout in two scenarios:

1. App quit/reopen: When an application is quit and reopened, its windows should reappear on the spaces they occupied before quitting
2. Aerospace restart: When aerospace is restarted (or after a system sleep/wake), it should recognize and restore which windows belong to which space

Use Case

This would be particularly valuable for:

• Freelancers and multi-project workers who need project-specific workspace organization
• Users with multiple windows of the same application serving different purposes
• Anyone who needs persistent workspace layouts across system sleep/wake cycles

Questions

• Is this technically feasible given how aerospace interacts with macOS window management?
• Would this require some form of window identification/tracking mechanism?
• Are there any existing workarounds that might achieve similar results?

I'd love to hear if others have similar needs or if there are alternative approaches I haven't considered!
