How do I push into a typed FormArray

I'm struggling to get my objects into a FormArray. Given the following code, I get an error on the push(ctrl) part stating:

Argument of type 'FormControl' is not assignable to parameter of type 'FormGroup<ControlsOf<ControlsOf>>'.   Type 'FormControl' is missing the following properties from type 'FormGroup<ControlsOf<ControlsOf>>': controls, select, markAllAsDirty,

export type IPerson = {
    name: string
    wwid: number
}

export class Person implements IPerson {
    name = ''
    wwid = 10

    // lots of other stuff here
}

class Foo {
    readonly formArray = new FormArray<ControlsOf<IPerson>>([])

    add(person: Person): void {
        const ctrl = new FormControl<IPerson>(person)
        this.formArray.push(ctrl)
    }
}

If I change the form control creation to this:

const ctrl = new FormControl<ControlsOf<IPerson>>(person)

then the error changes the person parameter saying this:

TS2345: Argument of type 'Person' is not assignable to parameter of type 'BoxedValue<ControlsOf> | undefined'.
  Type 'Person' is not assignable to type 'ControlsOf'.
    Types of property 'name' are incompatible.
      Type 'string' is not assignable to type 'FormControl'.

I'm not wanting to use a FormGroup for the person, just a normal FormControl. Guidance would be greatly appreciated.

OK, it seems like I have to define the FormArray like so:

FormArray<Person, FormControl<Person>>

If I do that, it seems to be working as expected so far. Is this intended usage?
