Currently, Deck offers a Kanban-style board view for task management, while the Tasks app provides a simpler list-based experience. Users increasingly expect flexible ways of visualizing and managing tasks within a single, unified app. Competitors like Trello, Asana, ClickUp, and Microsoft Planner already provide multiple interchangeable views on the same task data.

Creating this issue to discuss when, if and where to bring this functionality to Nextcloud

cc @raimund-schluessler of Tasks and @juliusknorr here, as we talked about this some time ago before.

Mostly in terms of using the same data (via CalDAV), but certainly using the same app just with views would make for a simpler UX than separate apps.

"Only" issue being that it's probably a bunch of work to merge? ;)

I saw the screenshot with "Premium" and "Start free trial" and got scared it was a mockup for a second :D

In any case, the other thing we could think of is making the existing view more flexible. I don't know how much of these views are actually used vs. how much are gimmicks, I do know that table can be useful. And for that, I think we could restructure the current view to essentially function as one, but maybe wholly separate views is a better idea anyway.

Yeah, looking a bit into it, Map, Calendar, and Dashboard all seem rather gimmicky. The former two are out of scope for a task management app and seem more like a reason to not use apps other than Trello and the latter is just sort of bare bones and maybe even abandoned?

Yes @kra-mo , I agree about those views being a gimmick, this would be basically about table view and maybe incorporating https://github.com/rolliracker/ncgantt
