[auth][error] MissingAdapter: Email login requires an adapter.. is reported, but the app works

Hi there, first-time next-auth user here 👋

I wanted to build a "modern" app using Next.js, Auth.js, and Prisma, with the login working through magic links.
I could get the app working on the first try, but I was receiving these errors, so I started investigating:

The app worked at this point. Sendgrid sent out magic links, I could log in, and a session was created in the db. The error messages frustrated me.

After some time I found this blog post that seemingly offered a solution to this problem: https://authjs.dev/guides/edge-compatibility#middleware.

I followed everything here, and now I'm getting a different error, but the app still works!

I don't understand what's happening, and any input is valuable because this (found at https://errors.authjs.dev#missingadapter):

This could happen if you configured an Email provider but did not set up a database adapter, or tried using a strategy: "database" session without a database adapter.

Doesn't seem to be true. From the blog post I configured:

in auth.ts and I have the email provider configured in auth.config.ts:

I believe you also have two typos in your docs https://authjs.dev/guides/edge-compatibility#middleware:

• in the second code block auth.ts this import authConfig from "auth.config" should be import authConfig from "./auth.config"
• in the third code block middleware.ts this export const { auth as middleware } = NextAuth(authConfig) gives me a parsing error, are you sure it's not export const { auth: middleware } = NextAuth(authConfig)?

I'm getting this error after init the edge config from the doc https://authjs.dev/guides/edge-compatibility

I just follow the instruction and get that error. But as he said, the app works perfectly.

My team couldn't solve the issue. But I def recommend using Next-Auth.js instead, way less bugs.

Next.js now supports configuring the Node.js runtime for middleware, so you no longer need to use workarounds like separating auth.ts and auth.config.ts. This likely resolves your issue as well.
