Feature Request - Automatically find free space for new window

Would it make sense to add a way to make a new window find the best available spot in the remaining space? Basically calculate the lease overlap somehow?

As I mentioned here #14 I will add support for simple plugins. Your suggested features looks like a good first example of a plugin.
