Upgrade.sh behind proxy

Hi,

I'm currently installing netbox behind corporate proxy.
But got error when executing upgrade.sh script.

Kindly need you assistance.

Also: you haven't shown the exact set of commands you used to set the environment variables and run ./upgrade.sh.

Note that sudo by default wipes environment variables. If you're using sudo then you can try sudo -E instead. Alternatively, start a root shell first with sudo -s, then export the environment variables, then run ./upgrade.sh.

Yes, i'm exporting http_proxy & https_proxy environment variable under root account.
And the proxy is only HTTP proxy.

Don't run pip yourself. As the error says, you don't want to install any packages globally, they must be installed inside netbox's virtualenv.

If you want to try this, I suggest you copy upgrade.sh to upgrade2.sh (say) and modify the pip commands within the script. But if it doesn't honour environment variables, then it may not work with --proxy either.

Almost certainly you will need to set https_proxy as well. Pip uses HTTPS to download packages. Point it to the same proxy. HTTP proxies typically can make HTTPS connections using the CONNECT verb. But if it doesn't work, like I say, ask your local IT support.

I have modify the pip command by adding --proxy parameter to it, yet still fail

I have successfully install netbox using proxy.

1. Export the http_proxy and https_proxy environment variables
2. Use command sudo -E when need to install package
3. Use command sudo -E -H when upgrading pip

There could be several reasons:

Either the Corporate Proxy does some (Deep) Package inspection, and blocks Python Packages, or modifies them in a way that breaks the code, (Most likeley reason, or i have no clue)
Or you may have an SSL/Certificate related issue (unlikely though).
Or your python version is somehow broken.
Or your Netbox-Release-Download is broken.

Try downloading the release fresh, and try to install on a fresh system.

A different solution would be a Mirror-server for Python Packages. The you could use your corporate mirror server to install.
