Multi-position cable terminations via script

I am trying to script creation of multi fibre trunk cables between devices. Where there are multiple interfaces/ports it works (see code below) however I cannot find anyway to adapt it for multi-position ports. For example where 1 device is a single MPO interface with 16 positions but the other device is 16 interfaces. I have tried many ways but every options I found fails somehow. How can this actually be done by script as it can in the GUI?
