Segments vs vlans

Hi Pieter, That’s a great question! For VMware NSX, since it uses Geneve (a VXLAN-based overlay) for network segmentation, I’d suggest using the L2VPN model in NetBox with the "VXLAN" type. This allows you to document your segments while staying aligned with how VMware NSX handles overlays. I hope this helps! |

We're moving more to NSX-T based networking and public clouds.
Those platforms work with the concept of 'segments' rather than VLANs.
I would really like to be able to create a 'vlan' without an number, and just a name.
That would allow me to document the segments (or cloud named subnets) in one nice view on my prefix lists..
Any ideas how this should/could be handled ?
Pieter
