HTML hyperlinks on device description?

This may be an unusual use case, but I have chosen not to use the Name field for my devices. The uniqueness requirement does not work well with my organization. So I leave everything as "unnamed" and use the Description field to identify devices. When browsing through a table of devices in the webpage, I would like to hide the name and ID fields, but then there is no link to the device page. How can I add a hyperlink on the description text? I'm guessing this should be a pretty simple HTML patch if I can find the right file.
