documentation, info on how to use snapshot/checkout new functionality

I was rereading the release notes for 3.4 and I saw again the checkout api experimental functionality listed under #10851. Does anyone have an example how to do this? I don't see anything the api swagger, or pynetbox documentation.

I did see another issue that appears to use the NB shell to do this, but looking for other options.
