Displaying device (rack) position in device dropdown in cable connection view

Hey folks, I'm working on getting our cabling and patch panels into Netbox .
Is there any way to show the device (rack) position in the device dropdown menu in the cable connection view?
If not, is that something a plugin could customise somewhat easily?

As far as I can tell, the content of the dropdown menu is just the device model string representation.
I gave it a quick test and it looks like these are the options:

• Device name
• Device name (Asset tag)
• Unnamed device (ID)

A workaround would be to use populate the asset tag field, but that isn't great as it has to be unique.
