Witsy’s Next Chapter: New Stewardship and License Update

Dear Witsy Community,

We're reaching out to share an exciting update about the future of Witsy.

The Witsy project has recently been acquired by a new steward - a recognized leader in the advertising and marketing technology ecosystem. This marks the beginning of a new chapter, one where Witsy will continue to evolve with renewed energy, deeper investment, and a long-term vision for empowering knowledge workers through unified AI tooling. I am now full time focused on Witsy and the corresponding commercial version of Witsy - and there is an extended team supporting our efforts as a result of the transaction.

As part of this transition, we want to inform you that the Witsy open source license will be changing from Apache 2.0 to AGPLv3. This change will take place in the coming weeks and is intended to ensure strong alignment with our future development roadmap and commitments to the open source community.

While we're not ready to share all the details just yet, we can say this: a broader announcement is coming soon, and we believe it will signal a new era of innovation for the Witsy platform. We're committed to fostering transparency, collaboration, and continued support for the developer and contributor community that has helped shape Witsy into what it is today.
