Increasing disk size through helm throws "Forbidden Updating resource except replica"

I have deployed cluster using helm chart. PVC and Statefulset are tightly coupled, while changing the disk size in PVC helm throws an error stating "updating resource except replicas and others is fordidden". I had to create PVC separately to achieve this.
Is there anything that can be done without changing existing helm.
I am using 0.19.5 helm chart version but same issue persist with latest helm too.
