Can't trigger a cleanup

Server 2.5.5
I've made changes to files but I can't seem to trigger a clean up.
I don't want to go nuclear because I've got playlists set up and I've taken a long time over a large collection.
The files are all on an SMB file share from another server. A re-sync doesn't seem to solve the issue, especially files in playlists that aren't there any more.
Restarting MA server doesn't seem to trigger a cleanup, or at least, not one that I can see in the logs.

Grateful for advice please.

Trigger a clean up to do what? What changes have you made?

Sync is happening, but isn't cleaning things up... for example the files that aren't in playlists any more.

How much more of a step by step can I give you other than files are deleted (such as indicated in the error list in my original post) and playlists aren't being updated to show that they're not there any more... and I'm altering tags (I think the last ones were date and album name) and I'm ending up with duplicate entries.

One option to fix the playlist problem is to SELECT ALL on the playlist and then create a new playlist with those and then delete the original. That will hopefully solve this orphaned entry problem.

That's a work around and not really a solution to an ongoing problem as files change over time.

I asked for a step by step because you are talking about at least two different things.

1. You are deleting files. This is cleaned up but maybe not in the playlist, If all that happens is a log entry then that doesn't seem to be much of a problem and I have provided a way to stop the log entry.
2. You are changing some tags (which ones you are not sure) and saying that results in duplicate entries. In order for us to help you you need to find reproducible steps for the problem and then give us those steps so we can recreate it and then fix it. edit: and please confirm these files are comprehensively tagged by Picard (or equivalent) in the first place.

I don't want to stop the log entry. I want the playlists to be cleaned of files that aren't there any more. The cleanup routine. Otherwise the database is just going to end up getting messier and messier. I shouldn't have to be doing this manually.

• I mean... the position of this database... it's not as if I can fire up MySQLWorkshop and run maintenance SQL against the DB. The whole thing is in your hands and we need the tools to keep these tables clean and tidy.
