Minor enhancements

Gonna make a quick list of several small things I'm noticing it'd be nice to have now that I'm using the app for real.

• Show channel with unread messages as bold
• Automatically expand all channel directories.
• Element widths should remain consistent when switching between Chat to Threads (now Index)
• New messages should not force me to the bottom of the chat.
• Markdown support would be nice (not sure how minor this is though)

Some things aren't styled yet IIRC like headings, but that's a quick fix which I'll try right now.

Replies should just quote the first few words (~70 characters) of the message.

Since we’re strictly browser-based for now, new notifications would be a lot more noticeable if we also put them in the browser tabs, like for example bsky.app does:

  Discord doesn’t apply any special coloring on inline replies, it merely draws a line. I think this is better as it requires less theme tweaking.
• align and decolor reaction icon
  same as above; reactions should just have an outline and transparent-shade background, not a theme-specific color.

Did you do a pass on the reaction fill as well? I feel like it’s gotten softer.. I still think it could be at like 90% transparency though.

Yup, fixed this last week when I fixed a bunch of random things in chat.

Are you talking about the line that ties the reaction to the original post? Yeah I missed making that softer. Will do!

• Remove the toggle in the sidebar; turns out we only need the main-window toggle after all.
• Only show Channels (no more Topics widget); soon to be supplemented with the top-level space-index menu.
