A lot of the description of how this feature works is in the comments of the code section. I would prefer if these were moved out and into regular text content below or above. It makes it easier to read and understand how this works.

That's a good suggestion, @matt-hernandez. Would you be interested in opening a pull request that describes .restoreHandlers() (and similar methods) in-text more?
