Does HDR currently support KDE luminance adjustment

Was reading this post from one of the kde devs, and it seems to indicate that wayland apps should be able to adjust hdr peak brightness and reference luminance automatically, and I was just wondering if mpv does that in the current build or if manually setting target-peak among other things (help on settings to match current kde automatic brightness adjustment weirdness would be nice, idk too much about hdr) is still required.
