Upgrading from 2019 version to latest and facing config issues

Hi everyone.
Apologies in advance if my issue seems newb, but I have tried googling and AI tools to solve my issue with no success.
Didn't use to have this issue with my 2019 copy from Sourceforge, but after a update, settings can't be saved.
Nothing I tried seems to work. Any assistance would be appreciated.

I need, Brightness, Contrast, Gamma, Sub position, Playback timestamp to be saved for each video file.

Solutions tried

1. adding "save-position-on-quit" "watch-later-options=audio/sub,title,sub,contrast,brightness,gamma" to my "mpv.conf" file
2. went to https://github.com/d87/mpv-persist-properties
   placed "persist-properties.lua" into
   a) mpv\portable_config\scripts
   b) mpv\portable_config\script-opts
   c) mpv\portable_config
   d) C:\Users<Username>\AppData\Roaming\mpv\scripts\
