How do i disable HDR (dynamic brightness) and play content as if it's SDR?

Hi,

I've tried many many many many different HDR config options for MPV. Some with a lot of success and in terms of color i can get there and it looks wonderful. On a still frame.

But then as soon as there is a scene change or any brightness change (HDR10+ content) then i just see it still. Acceptable for a few seconds, highly annoying for a movie.

Unfortunately my monitor, though it has HDR, isn't oled so any brightness change is the whole backlight. Acceptable to some but i just get annoyed by it. To be clear here, i've seen HDR on OLED and it's stunning! But on displays where the backlight can't be controlled on an individual pixel level it really is just content i'd rather watch in SDR or not at all.

So how do i turn off the brightness aspect and just consider it one fixed brightness over the whole video?

You could try using target-peak=203 and let mpv tonemap the video as if your display is sdr.
