How do I automatically rotate a video to fill portrait/landscape 9:16 / 16:9 ?

Got screens in 16:9 and screens in portrait of that (9:16).
The issue is that I want to rotate the entire video if it was made for 16:9 on my 9:16 displays.
How can I achieve that?

So you want to rotate a landscape video (16:9) to potrait (9:16)?
You could make a script for that, grabbing the height and width property, getting the video ratio, and apply video-rotate to 90 or 270
Or you could do it manually by well, assigining a key to it. e.g.

I can retrieve the current screen resolution.
When the display resolution is 1080x1920 (portrait mode) and the video is in 16:9, I want mpv to rotate the video clockwise.

If the display resolution is 1920x1080 (landscape mode) and the video is already in the correct orientation, I want mpv to do nothing.

How can I configure mpv to behave this way?
Specifically:
How do I pass the current display resolution to mpv dynamically?
Can mpv update its rotation setting periodically, or does it only apply changes at startup?
I am using Arch Linux with Sway (Wayland)

I don't use sway but as the wiki said https://github.com/swaywm/sway/wiki#display-configuration you should be able to query monitor resolution. Because you can't simply grab wayland resolution (cmiiw) unline x11's xrandr
For that, you can use os.execute by lua or mp.command_native

I believe you can just use an auto profile for this:
