Page 668 Lines 26 and 28 - I think 'real word' in this case is wordy, since real is the name of the Fortran datatype 'word' in this context is redundant. The same way we would refer to a int in C as an integer rather than an integer word.

Page 676 Line 41-44 - This sentence is somewhat convoluted grammatically, my suggestion is ""For each process in the group, the location in the file where data is accessed is the position of the shared file pointer after all processes with ranks lower than the current process have accessed their data"
