App keeps disappearing from Android Auto App Overview

Whenever I connect my phone to my car the app doesn't always appear in the overview of available apps within Android Auto. When I disconnect the USB from my car, open the app and then connect my phone to the car again, the app shows up again. It's quite unpredictable when it will or won't show up.

It seems like the app isn't 'advertised' to the car or something.
