HDR videos look dark -- Any gamma / contrast settings

Player is great but HDR videos look too dark on my device. Is there a way to adjust gamma or contrast? I've maxed out brightness but videos are still too dark. Probably because the tablet screen is not technically HDR but in other players like BSplayer, MPV I can adjust gamma/contrast/brightness to improve the picture quality. Thanks.
