Dynamic Tabs #37

Description

For pinned tabs:

  1. Pinned tabs are the height of two regular tabs.

  2. The favicon is the size of the tab.

  3. The title is set by the browser.

  4. The icon is set by the browser.

Dynamic Tabs are tabs unleashed. Examples of things Tangent could do with Dynamic Tabs:

  • Split notifications by category (Discord by servers, Mastodon by like/boost/follow/results/mention)
  • Show what's playing in media websites, with progress and thumbnails and possibly controls
  • Show reading progress of articles (although the scrollbar does that too, this would only be useful if you had a lot open and were switching often) nobody's pinning fucking articles

Issues:

  • Tabs are too big
  • Do we have an API? Probably not because it will be quickly abused + fingerprinted
  • That audio icon looks ass it needs to be either on the right or a part of the icon like it is on literally every other browser
  • Do we make non-Dynamic pinned tabs also double height, which looks weird, or not, which makes users accidentally select the ones that are?
