DType string support

thanks for the great work! I noticed that DataFrame in NArctic support only numeric data indexed by timestamp, wonder if datatype can be extended to string as well. Seems arctic will return width of the string when requested (e.g. "S11"). I have tried to play around but obviously lack the necessary programming skill.
