Mentor Sourcery is no longer available

How do I get the ARM arm-none-linux-gnueabi- toolchain to build this? The Mentor Sourcery toolchain is no longer available. The link in the wiki https://sourcery.mentor.com/GNUToolchain/package4571/public/arm-none-linux-gnueabi/arm-2009q1-203-arm-none-linux-gnueabi-i686-pc-linux-gnu.tar.bz2 doesn't work (DNS subdomain no longer exists).

Newer toolchain versions should work in theory, but tend to cause compile failures due to new warnings that weren't detected by older toolchains.

The goto place for the latest and greatest ARM toolchain these days is https://developer.arm.com/downloads/-/arm-gnu-toolchain-downloads

You can find some older pre-built toolchains at https://toolchains.bootlin.com/releases_armv5-eabi.html although they aren't nearly as old as the 2009 one. (eabi or linux-gnueabi shouldn't matter for compiling the kernel).

I also managed to find this site which seems to have a copy of the 2008 version of this toolchain.

And building your own toolchain with something like https://crosstool-ng.github.io/ could be an option as well.

I’ve googled it and there were links to the old toolchain builds.
ARM also re-hosted these old builds.

This one works. Don't ask me how I find it – that's a long story :D
