HomeKit Adding not showing status

What happened?

I don't know whether this is in the works, or whether its my issue, but after adding my device to Home, I can't see what's playing I the Home App.

How did you install Shairport Sync?

Though you indicate you used a package manager, can I check that you built it yourself?

Anyway, the way an AirPlay 2 player should interact with HomeKit is not understood or implemented, so I am afraid that there there are bound to be failings at the UI level. My experience is that when a Shairport Sync device is actually playing (or, sometimes, after it has played), you can open it in the Home app and see what is playing, add other speakers, etc., but it's hit-and-miss, I'm afraid.

I did use the make commands, following your guide on the repo page.

My experience is that when a Shairport Sync device is actually playing (or, sometimes, after it has played), you can open it in the Home app and see what is playing, add other speakers, etc., but it's hit-and-miss, I'm afraid.

I've noticed the same thing. The Home app will show what's playing if it is my device doing the playing, but it won't show anything if another device is playing. I assume that this falls neatly into the bucket of "hit-and-miss" as long as Apple won't publish the AP2 control interface.

Same, its showing as Not Playing on the Home app. Although when tapped, it does show the currently-playing song

Been using the original Shairport for awhile so I'm stoked for this newer version. Small things, hopefully this gets fixed.

Same here! No status, but i can tap through and see the album art, pause/play on the current track.

I do exactly notice the same here. Shairport-sync works perfectly, only in HomeKit the status is not shown, which it does for my Apple HomePod while playing the exact same source. Hope there's a fix for this.

+1. I also notice that. It shows normally on the device which is streaming through Shairport, but the others in the network are not. That would be great if Shairport audio could show status 100% in Homekit.

Same issue here. On my iPhone which playing music on Moode Audio with Shareport Sync i could see in the home app playing song, by not on other devices.
Playing status only appear while i press on speaker icon, in collapsed stat it is showing "Not Playing".
There are some screenshots from my devices.
