I am fairly new to this whole Scheme thing, but I have been loving it, and Gerbil Scheme in particular, and enjoyed writing small libraries and projects with it greatly:
I understand these are probably not fully idiomatic gerbil scheme, or scheme in general, but I am still having great fun and would like to see Gerbil succeed. Are there any "good first issues" a person like me could help with? |

NIce, happy to see you enjoying the language. We don't have many low hanging fruit issues, but there is a general theme where contributions would be very welcome:
Also, you should join our matrix space so that things can be discussed in near real time. |

Note that we are working towards v0.18.2, planned for April 4, 2025. It is quite an important release, as we are ready to unleash the first iteration of typed gerbil to the world. |

We are in the future now (see #776 #777) and we can finally explicitly say it: we are on the path for Gerbil v1.0.
Here is the current release plan:
Gerbil v0.18; Nimzowitch
This is what we have been frantically working on the last few months, and it is coming close.
This release is the foundation for everything that follows; many major subsystems are now in their final form, and so is some very important tooling.
We have also finally achieved full self-hosting; there is no need for an external Gambit dependency (it is integrated as a submodule) and
gsi
outside bootstrap.Gerbil v0.19; Benko
This is where the language becomes feature complete.
Gerbil v1.0; Najdorff
This is where the language is ready.
