How about a demo with a turbine or an airfoil? I.e., a rectangular domain with a hole, and we adapt the mesh around the hole. Those seem like popular and cool examples to me :)

I tried making a mesh from this geo file https://github.com/jeromerobert/gmsh/blob/master/benchmarks/2d/naca12_2d.geo but then when I load it in firedrake I get a ValueError: Provided mesh has some entities not reachable by traversing cells (maybe rogue vertices?). I see there's a potentially useful issue open about this ( firedrakeproject/firedrake#982 ) so I can try that if you'd like me to explore this as a demo.

Or for the turbine demo, do you or @acse-ej321 have a geo/mesh file ready? :)

I guess it depends on the length scales for that problem? If they are close to unit then the Hausdorff number won't have a big impact. It's important for length scales that're several orders smaller or larger than unit. I would've thought an airfoil slice would only be order of metres?
