Any chance there is a default native view that can be enabled that can show whilst playing audio in the car?
Not a webview but native similar to what is on the phone today?

https://www.reddit.com/r/llamafin/s/q3fqj5qqDV Here is a capacitor app that has built in integration not open source though.. I'm not sure if the UI is custom java. Don't think android auto allows webview and not sure if there is an ootb integration like the mobile UI?

TBH, with reading that it's a pain and what was mentioned here, I am not sure we want to develop and maintain it. What does Android Auto do now as the plugin stands? Does it just give you controls to control the audio?

It's really something that is specific to the direct usage. Difficult to create an all-in-one plugin that can be easily used elsewhere.

ATM it just plays over Bluetooth doesn't show any interface - I can just control from the phone. I can take a few photos if you need of other examples interfaces from my car.

Interesting. I would have thought Android Auto would be better than that. It doesn't even show Now Playing? I believe Apple CarPlay at least shows Now Playing info and the basic controls.

Can you control it with your car's Bluetooth controls? I have an after market Bluetooth adapter in my car and I can pause/play with it.
