Adding ingredients images in each step can help the steps stand out visually, and be easier to follow. This screenshot is taken from Samsung Food which has an excellent UI/UX around the steps, but awful social features.

Please consider and list out some caveats or tradeoffs made in your design decision

Styling, having a list of tiny images for each ingredients is a huge amount of work.

This is already implemented. You can link ingredients to steps which will then be displayed in cook mode

I wasn't aware of that! I'm hoping to keep it open for the ingredient images which help a ton with visually differentiating the steps
