Selecting mono mic and setting channels to 1 results in live audio not working

Hi,
after testing the project i was so happy that i bought a better mic which is only mono.
I've reduced the channels from 2 to 1 and the detection worked perfectly.
But the livestream is not starting. Icecast is up and running.

When trying to start it manualy i get a confusing error:

birdnet:~/BirdNET-Pi/scripts$ ./livestream.sh
1 Channels on Card dsnoop:CARD=Device,DEV=0
[alsa @ 0x555664c96550] cannot set channel count to 2 (Invalid argument)
dsnoop:CARD=Device,DEV=0: Input/output error

The first line is an echo added by me to see if the correct values are loaded from the configuration. Nevertheless it still complains about not being able to set the channel count to 2 and i'm a bit at a loss where this comes from. Help is appreciated :)

Okay, short update. Changeing -ac ${CHANNELS} to -channel ${CHANNELS} fixed the problem. But looking at the documentation this option shouldn't do anything (found it in some old forum post)
