Using # in Contest "Sent exchange" field doesn't seem to affect the {EXCH} macro

First of two questions from a newbie:

I am using one of the "off the shelf" contest plugins for another (UK-based) CW contest, but want the exchange macro to send the Serial number. When I put a "#" in the "Sent exchange" field in either the Menu->New Contest, or Menu->Edit Contest, it doesn't seem to ripply through to the {EXCH} macro, so when I hit F3, I cannot get it to send the Serial after the RST (which it does by default). I have tried a number of contest plugins, and none seems to work (including CQ-WW-CW, and French REF CW). Am I missing something?

Ignore the "two questions" bit - I've fixed the other issue!

Try using {SENTNR} instead of {EXCH}, other macros can be found here.

Yup - that works fine! Inserting a "#" in the macro also works.

I have managed to fix the second question, but this one remained unanswered - so thanks!

I have now managed to use your "anatomy of a plugin" instructions to design my own contest plugin for the RSGB CC CW contest. I'm also working on the RTTY and Phone versions of that same contest. It's not a hard one (no multipliers and a simple serial number exchange), but your instructions worked fine, once I'd worked out that I had been using the wrong installation directory (pipx had produced two versions at the point of install!)

Thanks again Michael - this is a real gap filler in the Linux ham radio software collection.
